MILITARY ADVANCED RIDING SCHOOL

(MARS)

What is M.A.R.S.

MARS is a privately operated civilian motorcycle training program of the Ed Bargy Racing Services LLC.  Mars was formed to provide a top level of advanced motorcycle sport bike riding techniques to the active military.  Due to the fact that the military is experiencing a high levels of motorcycle riding accidents among their young riders, base and company commanders are looking for ways to improve the safety of their soldiers and sailors. The formation of an advanced sport bike school geared to military needs was necessary.

MARS was formed by Ed Bargy, he is one of the most experienced and respected high performance motorcycle riding instructors in the country.  With his years of experience Ed has compiled the most comprehensive curriculum of advanced motorcycle riding techniques in the country.

Specialized, military only, events can be set-up at several tracks around the Southeastern United States.  If room permits, these events can even be conducted at your duty base.

This is not the slow speed riding around traffic cones exercise in a parking lot somewhere.  This is actual hands on training in a controled environment at highway speeds.

Ed Bargy believes that these close order parking lot drills for riders are very important and of value but, they are just the starting point for skilled riding.  Most serious accidents don't happen in parking lots at parking lot speeds.  These riders need to know how to handle their bikes, in a panic situation, at highway speeds.  An emergency situation on the street requires high performance reactions. This is where Ed's experiance racing and fourty years of teaching advanced techniques comes in to play.

Sport Bikes & Track Days

After each student completes the MARS program he or she will be track-day qualified.  For sport bike riders, who enjoy the performance of today's modern motorcycles,  track days are the best place for them to be.  A track day offers a safe, controlled environment for motorcycle riders to enjoy these high powered machines. Track days elimiminate all of the dangerous variables from the riders environment such as on coming traffic, animals on the road, Armco railings, sign posts telephone poles etc.  Also at all sanctioned track days there is a full emergency staff on hand, including paramedics, fire & rescue.

Note to Commanders

If you are interested in obtaining or requiring additional training for your GIs, then don't get involved in trying to start a new program from scratch. Contact Ed Bargy and ask about the MARS program. We already have the necessary curriculum, instructors, teaching aids and experience necessary to upgrade your soldiers riding skills.

About Ed Bargy

Ed actually began his motorcycle teaching career in 1968 while stationed in England with the USAFE.  Ed became certified to instruct in the "on base" motorcycle school.  This school was mandatory for any Air Force  personal, both enlisted and commissioned, wishing to ride a motorcycle while stationed in England.  At this time with his association with two British motorcycle constables, Ed began to establish his advanced riding curriculum.  Working with the two constables Ed was able to glean and adapt many of the teaching techniques and material used by the British constabulary for their own motor officers' training.  As motorcycles evolved, over the years, Ed has been able to evaluate each technique and change them as neccessary.
